Technical
The Taltarni ‘Discovery’ range of wines is comprised of some rare and some not-so-rare varietals and blends that are a little off the beaten track. These wines allow our winemakers to experiment with style, structure, taste, and artistic expression and give drinkers of these wines the opportunity of Discovery.
vintage
The 2023 growing conditions were ideal with minimum heat and water stress allowing the two key components of this blend to exhibit more delicate and subtle characteristics normally associated with their varieties.
winemaking
Fermented separately in small open-top vessels, the fruit was handled lightly with minimal mechanical intervention to allow the true nature of the estate-grown fruit to be on display.
A rich aroma of cherry and boysenberry is underpinned by a soft savouriness. This depth of aroma transitions seamlessly to the light to medium-bodied wine, with flavours of red forest fruits and ripe cherries being balanced with a soft yet persistent strawberry flavour. The wine is refined by the aged French oak, producing a mouth-filling wine that still retains a crispness that lingers in a long finish.
